Automobile Associations

Not long after our society became mobile via the development of personal transportation; the Automobile, it was quickly noted that motorists needed assistance with travel planning, highway breakdowns and emergencies. Local groups were formed and members enrolled, the intent being initially to provide highway assistance for problems like flat tires, empty gas tanks, dead batteries, mechanical failures, towing and the like.

Many of the local groups interfaced and this ultimately led to the formation of national groups like the American Automobile Association (AAA). AAA members can get assistance with travel planning, not only by automobile, but the AAA is a full-fledged travel agency capable of booking cruises, flights, hotels and car rentals worldwide.

While on the road, a traveler can visit the local office of his auto club and obtain additional services assistance like theme park tickets or specific travel maps and side trip planning.

Vehicle insurance became another service offered by auto clubs, with the rates be competitive for a high quality product. As a national organization, their claim service and assistance is available everywhere in the USA.

Some national auto clubs also expanded into car buyers services. Using the purchasing power of their memberships, they negotiated special vehicle pricing from dealers in each area where they have offices, then set up a referral service in their local offices, directing members to the dealers who handle the makes and models they are interested in buying. The result is that individuals are able to obtain fleet pricing on single purchases.

A national auto club membership offers much more than tire-changing or a battery jump. Your enrollment enables you to access travel, insurance and buying services as well.
